Harley-Davidson India

Harley-Davidson India Launch
Harley-Davidson India has revised the prices of its Softail motorcycle range. The company has cutt down prices by upto Rs. 5.5 lakhs. The prices have been revised for the Fat Boy, Fat Boy Special and Heritage Classic motorcycles. The Fat Boy which came for Rs. 19.51 lakhs is now available for Rs. 14.9- lakhs, the Fat Boy Special was priced at Rs. 20 lakhs earlier now costs Rs. 15.60 lakhs and the Heritage Classic costing Rs 20.51 lakhs, now comes at a price tag of Rs. 16.25 lakhs. These motorcycles are now coming through the CKD route, hence the price drops.
Harley-Davidson started its CKD (Completely Knocked Down) operations in 2011 at Bawal in Haryana. In order to achieve aggressive pricing amidst the heated up competition in the highly cost sensitive market of India, Harley-Davidson has started taking the CKD route for most of its models. The demand for premium motorcycles is increasing. Harley-Davidson is gaining momentum in the market and after the price cuts, the manufacturer will experience a significant growth in its sales.
Apart from the imports, Harley-Davidson is also planning to introduce a made-for-India motorcycle soon. The motorcycle is expected to be powered by a V-twin engine in the 400cc to 500cc bracket. The entry level motorcycle will be fully localized and is expected to come with a price tag of Rs. 3.5 lakhs to take on entry level premium bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Hyosung GT250R and the upcoming KTM 390 Duke. The company will face stiff competition from the soon to be launch Triumph and Victory motorcycle range.
